Mets off to a hotstart

The Mets have started the season with a record of 5-2. This is already worse than how we started last year which was 11-1 through the first 12 but I think us already having two losses is a good thing considering even though we started 11-1 last year we missed the playoffs.

Jacob Degrom has been dealing and some may even say that he has looked even better than last year in his first two starts this year. Degrom had 14 strikeouts in his last start over seven innings and he got the win in the game. 14 strikeouts in a game is a career high for Jacob Degrom. Degrom is now  2-0 with a 0.00 ERA which is perfect. This almost never happens through two starts but Degrom seems to be on another planet with his ability.

Another player that is off to a hot start is our new catcher Wilson Ramos he has had some clutch hits in the games so far. Wilson Ramos is also hitting .478 with a .500 on base percentage. This is awesome to see as a Mets fan because we knew he was going to be good for us but we did not expect him to do as well as he has been doing thus far this season.

Pete Alonso has also been ripping the cover off the ball. He is hitting .346 with a .393 On base percentage. Pete Alonso is a rookie and had a very clutch three run home run in our game played on April first that made our lead go from 4-3 to 7-3 giving us a nice cushion going into the bottom of the ninth inning.

Even though we got some guys doing really well we have two key pieces to our team struggling at the plate in Robinson Cano who is hitting below .200 and Brandon Nimmo who is hitting under.100 which is awful. Hopefully both of these guys are able to turn it around soon.

METS START 1-0 ON OPENING DAY

The Mets start the season 1-0 as they beat The Washington Nationals with a score of 2-0, great way to open the season.

Jacob DeGrom picks up where he left off last year going 6 innings giving up 5 hits no runs one walk and ten strikeouts and getting the win. It was amazing to see our CY young award winner have a good start on opening day. The same thing that happened to him last year happened to him now he gives up no runs while pitching and the offense is only able to score one run for him.

Robinson Cano had a day going 2-4 with a homerun a single and 2 RBI’s. This was great to see as we traded some of our minor leaguers to get him onto the team. This is exactly what we wanted out of Robinson Cano when we traded for him.

Another bright spot of the day is that after a rough first three at bats Pete Alonso hit a 2-out single in the top of the eighth inning.

Newly acquired closer Edwin Diaz gets his first save of the season on opening day.

Once again this is a great way to start the season back at it again on Saturday with Thor (Noah Syndergaard) on the hill.
